(April 2, 2002) - Over 130 construction contractors seeking to bid
on New Jersey school construction projects attended the EDA contractor
registration and outreach workshop held at the McGinnis Middle School
in Perth Amboy. Created in an effort to educate construction contractors
about the steps they need to take to become eligible to bid on the upcoming
school construction projects, the workshop outlined the documentation
necessary to become classified to bid under the school construction program,
and answered contractor questions about the school construction bidding
process.

Dr. Pablo Clausell, district superintendent, and Mayor Joseph Vas addressed the contractors attending the workshop. Recognizing the importance of the state's landmark school construction program and the pressing need for professional contractors to become eligible to build quality school facilities to serve the children of Perth Amboy,
Dr. Clausell, expressed his sincere pleasure in having the opportunity to host the contractors at this workshop in his district. Mayor Vas welcomed the contractors to city of Perth Amboy and expressed his appreciation to the school district, EDA, and the state agency representatives participating at the workshop, thanking all for educating the attendees about the importance of the school construction program and the benefits it will bring to the citizens of Perth Amboy. Both the mayor the superintendent stressed the overwhelming amount of school construction on the horizon and encouraged the contractors to become qualified to participate in this school construction program.

Attendees felt the workshop enhanced their understanding of the school
construction and provided a coherent view of the requirements.
