EDA participated in a community forum in Paterson regarding the architect's presentation of plans to the public for the new Roberto Clemente School

(August 2002) - The
Paterson School District has plans to build the Roberto Clemente School,
an elementary school that will be the first new construction project
in the Paterson School District. The district recently held a community
forum and introduced the design details planned for this new facility.
In July, EDA executed assignment of the design contract for this school
with two architectural firms, Einhorn, Yafee & Prescott and Studio Pedro
E. Campos who formed a joint venture for this project. The design work
is being completed and EDA will begin the bidding process for construction
when the drawings are available. Construction is anticipated to begin
March, 2003.
This new facility
will be located on a vacant lot which was formerly the site of the Paterson
General Hospital and covers an entire city block. The 109,000 sq. ft.
facility has a construction cost estimate of $22 million and will house
approximately 660 students grades K-8.
