Jersey City,
NJ (June 11, 2003) - The New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) - a subsidiary of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority - marked the opening of its first regional office today in Jersey City.
Located at 333 Washington

SCC expects to open this summer. SCC plans to strategically site the
regional offices in areas where the bulk of the work will be done. The
Jersey City office sits in the heart of the town's redevelopment area.
Each of these offices will be strategically placed to ensure individual

The Jersey City office will serve Jersey City, Hoboken, Harrison, Irvington, West New York and the Union City school districts. It will house SCC, New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and the New Jersey Department of Education staff. Individuals who staff each office will be responsible for project management, design and construction review and oversight, affirmative action, land acquisition and feasibility assessments, property management, district communications and outreach.
The offices will not only provide a base of operations for SCC staff and other state representatives assigned to projects in the region, it will also serve to receive bids and accommodate design presentation by architectural, engineering and construction management firms.
"The opening of this new facility is another example of SCC's commitment to better serve the state's individual school districts. By locating an office in the heart of our most active school construction sites, we are able to better monitor activities and progress," said Alfred McNeill CEO New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC).
The office is expected to help SCC facilitate community involvement and to accelerate the time it takes to move a school construction project forward. In addition to Jersey City, regional offices will be located in Newark, Paterson and Trenton.
SCC is charged with
implementing the New Jersey School Construction Program - an $8.6 billion
endeavor aimed at helping to revitalize the state's communities with
jobs and targeted growth. The program is the largest public construction
program ever undertaken by the State of New Jersey and represents one
of the largest programs of its type ever undertaken in the nation.
