
Health
& Safety Projects Completed at Irvington High School
Irvington, NJ
(September 10, 2003) - A ceremony marking the completion of health and
safety projects was held today at Irvington High School. The State is
funding over $18 million in health & safety projects for nine schools
in the district under the Schools Construction Program, and expects
to complete all health and safety projects by the end of the year.
Irvington School
Board members presided at the ceremony attended by SCC representative
and other local and state officials. The State is providing over $190
million dollars of funding for the renovation and construction of the
Mt. Vernon, Grove, Madison, Berkley Terrace, Florence, University Six,
and the Chancellor Elementary Schools as well as a new Middle School
and renovations to Irvington High School.
The funding for
these projects are part of an $8.6 billion school construction program
that will help to revitalize the community, bringing jobs and targeted
growth to the area.
Under the Educational
Facilities Construction and Financing Act, SCC is responsible for school
projects throughout the State. The program is the largest public construction
program ever undertaken by the State of New Jersey and represents one
of the largest programs of its type ever undertaken in the nation.
