Funds $50 Million School Construction Project in Long Branch
Long Branch,
NJ (September 29, 2003) - Ceremonies with state, local and school officials were held today to mark the beginning of construction by the NJ Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) for a $50 million dollar middle school in Long Branch.
The
funding is part of an $8.6 billion school construction program that
will help to revitalize the community, bringing jobs and targeted growth
to the area.
The project involves new construction of a 245,700 square-foot three-story facility to be sited on the existing high/middle school campus. The school will include 68 classrooms and 12 science labs. It will serve over 1,100 students from grades sixth through eighth. The building will also be constructed and designed to serve as Red Cross emergency shelter.
"This project is another example of the progress SCC has made in the implementation of the state's historic school construction initiative. This is one of many that will be built under the educational facilities law," said Alfred McNeill CEO New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC).
