SCC PROVIDES OCEAN COUNTY FAMILIES PROGRESS REPORT ON SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Berkeley Twp., NJ (August 30, 2004) – In an effort to inform Ocean County residents about the progress of the state’s school construction program, John F. Spencer, CEO of the NJ Schools Construction Corporation (SCC), held a countywide town meeting in the Central Regional High School Auditorium in Berkeley Township.

The meeting, hosted jointly by the school district and Berkeley Township Mayor Jason Varano, consisted of a general overview of how the state’s school construction program works and the type of projects occurring in Ocean County. The meeting is part of SCC’s on-going effort to educate and inform communities about the school construction projects in their towns.

Governor James E. McGreevey formed the SCC in July 2002 to accelerate the state’s $8.6 billion school construction program. The program is the largest public construction program ever undertaken by the State of New Jersey and represents one of the largest programs of its type in the nation.
