Irvington, NJ - (May 5, 2005) - Representatives of the Irvington School District welcomed students, teachers, parents and residents, as well as local and state officials, to the groundbreaking event for the new Mount Vernon Elementary School.

The new 93,821-square-foot elementary school will be a multi-level 2 and 3 story facility with 31 classrooms, a media center, gymnasium and auditorium. The $22 million project, funded entirely by the NJ Schools Construction Corporation, will accommodate 582 pre-kindergarten through 5th grade students.
