Long Branch, NJ (May 11, 2005) - Long Branch's young students will begin a lifetime of learning thanks to today's ribbon-cutting for the new, state-of-the-art Amerigo A. Anastasia Elementary School. Earlier today, students, teachers and community leaders joined representatives of the Long Branch School District, the City of Long Branch, and New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newest addition to Long Branch's educational community. This $22.6 million facility replaces its namesake, the former Amerigo A. Anastasia Elementary School, and will feature a community health center designed to serve local residents. The Elementary School is approximately 94,000 square feet spanning 3 stories with 37 classrooms, a gymnasium, auditorium, kitchen, media center, and 6 small group instruction classrooms. The Amerigo A. Anastasia Elementary School provides educational opportunities for approximately 600 students. Designed by the architectural firm of Tomaino Tomaino Iamello & Associates and built by Fitzpatrick & Associates Inc., this is one of the first elementary schools to open in Long Branch in a number of years. |
