SCC Sponsoring Free SBE Contractor Training Program
For Small, Minority and Women-owned Firms in North Jersey


(March 2006) - Two years ago the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) and the Regional Alliance for Small Contractors (RASC) entered into an agreement to offer a series of free eight-week Northern New Jersey Contractor Training Programs. They are designed to help small, minority and women-owned firms (SBEs) in Bergen, Morris, Sussex, Passaic and Warren counties compete successfully for SCC contracts.

The spring 2006 Contractor Training Program will be held at Passaic County College's Public Safety Academy, 300 Oldham Road, Wayne. The free classes run March 2 through March 23. The Regional Alliance for Small Contractors has engaged top executives from major firms and other construction professionals to serve as instructors for the following topics:

RASC is dedicated to registering a minimum of 25 firms each semester to increase the pool of capable small, minority, and women-owned firms that can bid and perform NJSCC construction contracts. After the completion of this semester, graduates will receive a certificate of completion or participation based on attendance. Graduates of the program will be tracked for 2 years to determine how many SCC projects they have bid on and awarded.
