The detailed memos will be posted on the SCC website - www.njscc.com - before each monthly Board meeting and will be identified and linked to the respective agenda item. This will give citizens the opportunity to learn more about school construction matters in advance of the meetings. This access should prove beneficial to the public at large as well as residents, school officials and community representatives who attend the public SCC Board meetings each month. The posting of the memos extends a policy the SCC began with the posting of the Board minutes and agendas on the SCC website. The Board page on the website also includes biographies of the Board members and meeting dates. "The people of New Jersey deserve to have an honest and open government that is accountable only to them," said Chairman Barry Zubrow. "By providing a more open door to our actions, the public can have greater confidence in the decisions we make." Scott Weiner, CEO of the SCC, noted, "Rather than the public having to ask for this information, we will proactively make it available to them." Weiner said posting memos online will afford the public easy access to SCC information that the Board is acting on, as well as offer an insight into the Board's decision-making process. The memos provide details of construction projects, change orders and other corporate matters and explain management's reasons for recommendations to the Board. The memos will give citizens a better understanding of how the SCC works, Weiner said. |
