SCC, Hillier Architecture Win Smart Growth Award
For Design of New Catto Community School in Camden |

- Hillier Architecture of Philadelphia and the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation (SCC) have received a 2006 Smart Growth Architecture Award for the design of the new Octavius V. Catto Community School – a key component of a New Jersey Demonstration Project that is helping to revitalize an East Camden neighborhood.

As part of the Demonstration Project, the Camden County Boys & Girls Club will fully fund a new community center with a swimming pool and meeting rooms. The new Boys & Girls Club will be attached to the Catto School and be available to students and residents. Demonstration Projects are public/private community development initiatives in which schools are constructed to serve as catalysts to attract new housing and business to redevelopment areas. The SCC is responsible for the school component of Demonstration Projects, which are designated for Camden, East Orange, New Brunswick, Trenton, Union City and Vineland.
